Terminology

Regardless of which implementation you go for, the terminology surrounding footnotes remain the same:

  • References: these are the links within the main content that points to a footnote at the bottom.
  • Footnotes: these are the actual footnotes at the bottom of the page.
  • Back links: these are the links within the footnotes to go back to their reference.
